You're Not a Disappointment

Hello- How are you doing in these chaotic days? I spent my spare pandemic time coping this past week. Nothing particularly damaging, but by Friday I felt crummy. I won’t turn this into a group meeting-type sesh, but I knew something probably needed to change going into this next week. Then Saturday morning, Jesus reminded me- no condemnation.

A Scripture-synonym for condemnation is damnation. We’re not damned. We cannot be separated from Him. Suddenly the phrase “no condemnation” feels a little more concrete.

You’re not damned for watching too much Netflix, eating the pan of brownies, visiting that website, engaging in that conversation, drinking that third glass, raising your voice, or for having that thought. You’re not damned for what you did last night, what you do today, or what you will do tomorrow. You’re not a disappointment.

You are who He says you are: wanted, loved, accepted, enough. It’s through Jesus that we find our utmost identity — in Him we live and move and have our being. With Him we break free from the cycle of coping and striving — by His union to us we’re always thriving.

So maybe you struggled this past week…or thirty minutes ago. He’s not judging you, He’s not separating Himself from you — you’re sheltered in His grace, you’re secure in His love. No condemnation. Damn, that’s freeing. 🌼
